This review is for Dino Crisis 3,(XBOX only), and
I must say that it isn't scary. You would actually have to turn of
the lights at night and use the "I am this person" technique
to even shiver. Here's the review:
Scare Factor:
As said above, you will really have to try hard to be scared
of anything in this game. The jump moments in the game, surprisingly, don't
come from your enemies, but from the environment. And the fact that you
are constantly changing the formation of an impossibly large ship doesn't
really help you. It frustrates you.
The closest that I got to being scared was saying "Please don't let
anymore of those things come!!" Why did I say that? Because you get
constant waves of enemies that sometimes seem like they won't stop coming.
And here's something to consider: Because this one is in space, in the future,
Capcom decided that instead of letting your enemies jump through windows
or break down doors like in Resident Evil, they will come through small
portals.
The graphics in this game blew me away. But they also suck. Why do I
say that? Because the graphics in-game aren't that good. At least, not
on your characters. But the blood and dinosaurs look very real. But your
characters can sometimes look completely different in the face. Patrick's
haircut and face are different. And Sonya, for some strange reason, wears
a completely different costume in-game. It was pink on it here and there.
I sincerely hope that they did that to tell you that you're playing as
Sonya instead of just making a stupid mistake. But her short ponytail
and Patrick's short crop cut should already tell you who you're playing
as.

Here's Sonya in space:

Did anyone see all of that bright pink on her before? I saw red-nearing-pink,
but not pink. And notice her boots suddenly have pink blotches on them.
Sure, she looks good from behind, but they messed the character's faces
up in-game. I would give you another screen shot, but for some inexplicable
reason, there are no screenshots of their faces in-game. Gee, I wonder
why? Either way, Sonya blows me away.

Non-stop action that sometimes make you sick to your stomach
and an impossibly difficult 3-D map that you must constantly zoom in on
and change just to see where you really are haunts this game, unfortunately.
This is when the difficulty is actually what it says it
is. And in this game, the difficulty realism is absolutely horrible. Here
is the true layout:
Easy: It's like trying to cut through a brick house with
a buttterknife. It just doesn't work.
Normal: You'll have a better chance of living after being chewed into mulch
by a T-Rex, thrown of the Statue Of Liberty, thrown into a furnace, and
smashed by a boulder. I couldn't pass the first 20 minutes of the game.
Literally.
Hard: You might want to learn how to hack into the program and to get rid
of all of the enemies (although you'll be hacking for days on in). But even
then, you'll still have one heck of a time.
It's very good, except for the crazy, nasally voiced McCoy,
who makes the famous, unforgettable line that will leave you crying for
the rest of the game. It's at the very beginning, so you'll just have to
turn the game on to see it. For those of who have heard the horrible voice
acting of the original Resident Evil, here's a little message for you that
can really only get all the way through to you by impersonating a country
guy:"You ain't seen nothin' yet." But for those of you who actually
liked to hear that bad voice acting, this is home sweet home.
The camera angle is absolutely horrible. You will find yourself
jumping around and shooting off-screen at unseen enemies, and will have
to put your faith in the auto-aiming system, which will sometimes trick
you into thinking that you're killing your enemies, when really, all you're
doing is shooting at a wall.
With constant fighting that makes open war games seem easy
to muster, constantly changing a ship that is big enough to accommodate
what I'd guess about 50,000-a million people (literally), okay in-game graphics
and awesome enhanced graphics, a bad scare factor and difficulty realism,
unbearable McCoy, hard to use maps and hard to read files (they get so technical
sometimes that making a videogame could be easier) cool characters, questionable
replay value (I haven't completely finished the game), good lasting appeal,
an unlimited ammo on your main gun to boot (gee, you can only wonder why
they did that, considering how hard it is), this game earns an 8 out of
10. it has its flaws-----it would be criminal to say that it didn't-----but
you should really pick this one up. So, the final score is:
Graphics: 9/10
Gameplay: 9/10
Control: 9/10
Difficulty Realism: 2/10
Voice Acting: 9/10
Overall: 8/10
