This review is for a Resident Evil game, which was released about 5 different times. I am rating the complete PS2 version of the game which, from my understanding, is no different that the Gamecube version. But please note that there is a difference between Resident Evil: Code Veronica, and Resident Evil: Code Veronica X. Scenes have been altered, for instance, which slightly alters the way that I look at the game.

Gameplay
Well, the game provides a nice assortment of weapons, and
if you're good enough, you can pretty much get away from any monster or
zombie. Oh, and guess what? Besides Resident Evil 4, this is the only
Resident Evil game where you can actually use the knife-----and live!!!!
In the very beginning of the game, you are forced to use the knife, anyway.
The game has some good puzzles in it, and while I really like the gameplay,
I will have to point out a few things. For one, this game is LONG. This
was the first RE game that I got, and I've had time to beat the original,
RE1, RE2, RE3, RE4, RE: Survivor, and RE: Outbreak. Why is it that I haven?t
beaten this game without skipping something yet? Because it is long and
HARD. You CANNOT----I repeat----CANNOT choose a difficulty level. And
sometimes, you will find yourself completely clueless as to your object,
which will lead to large amounts of frustration. But luckily for you,
Capcom gave you a hints manual.
But if you?re looking for a long, hard RE game, then you've come to the
right place.
Scare Factor
This game does not disappoint. Playing this at night will definitely make any RE starter think twice before becoming a fan. This thing has enough jump moments to keep you up for awhile. It has those moments when, while everything's quiet, you calmly say "Self, you're going to throw that controller into the ceiling if something jumps out at you, and you know it." Take a breather before playing this one, guys.
Controls
You'll probably complain your head off when you first try
to play this one, but the
controls aren't nearly as hard to learn as you think. Unless you're one
of those people who immediately say "Man, why are these controls
so hard!?", and just won't stop saying it, then you'll probably end
up putting this game down. But if you have 5 minutes worth of patience,
you should be okay.
Camera Angle
The camera angle isn't really that bad. Every now and again, you may end up getting mad because a zombie was standing just out of your sight around a corner, and he'll get a bite in on you, but as long as you know that you can aim at an enemy if it's close enough to you, you should be alright.
Storyline
Well, since this was a good way into the RE series, I guess I should tell you whether or not the storyline is any good, huh? Well, it has a little bit of a Silent Hill spin-off in it, but the storyline is very good.
Graphics
So, how are the graphics on this port of a port? Well, unfortunately, Capcom utilizes the word "port". They must have looked it up in their gamer's dictionary, and decided that a port cannot have very many changes. The graphics are better than the original, especially in the enhanced cutscenes, but much more could have been done with this. When you look at the graphics on RE4, it is painfully obvious that we could have seen much more from this.
Replay Value
Well, this is a rather critical spot. Capcom, besides giving you a mini game that you will be done with very soon, gave you no replay value in this game. There isn't even a hard or easy mode. And this game is so long that, unless you love it, you won't be replaying it any time soon, anyway.
Overall
Gameplay: 9.7
Scare Factor: 9.8
Controls: 10
Camera Angle: 9.7
Storyline: 10 (If you like to figure a few things out on your own, anyway.
If not, then 9.8)
Graphics: 9.5
Replay Value: 7.8
Overall: 9.7
