Gameplay

I can pretty much summarize the gameplay in a few choice words: Hard, easy to understand. But I'll go into further detail anyway.
You start off in Lakeside Amusement Park, armed with a pocket knife, a steel pipe, handgun, submachine gun, and a few health items. Surprisingly, some people didn't even notice this their first time playing the game. That's why you check your inventory when beginning a game. It's not always empty.
From what I just said, you may be thinking that this game will be a breeze. Wrong. In about 3 minutes, every single one of those items except the knife will be taken away from you. And, about 2 minutes after that, you'll get the handgun back. Lucky you, right? Wrong again. Your enemies are no joke this time around. You will, quite often, find yourself running away from them. You can now distract the dogs by using beef jerky, which you can equip and use immediately. You can also fall off ledges (Except in Easy mode), making this more realistic. You can also be automatically killed by doing the wrong thing. And, to add on to that, simply standing in certain rooms will now kill you. And crouching down in 'caution mode' will now be essential to surviving part of the game. With action, hard puzzles, more realistic movements, and horrific predicaments, this game does not disappoint.

Storyline

I can't say much on the storyline without giving it away, but I have to say one thing about it, which may or may not clue you in to its story. It involves a religious cult, and it's story may take some getting used to. I had to get used to it. But, if this helps, the cult originated from Native Americans, so this religious cult is based off of a Native culture that has developed after some time in the game's storyline. And, as always, many things in this game have symbolic meaning. If you like to figure out the meanings of the symbolic things in Silent Hill, then you'll like playing this one. And your character, Heather, is very realistic, making the game all the better.

Graphics

The graphics in this game will blow you away. When I first played it, and, even now, I can't help but think to myself 'This game's graphics are awesome'. Sure, it doesn't look like real life, such as the Resident Evil Remake, but you must remember that this is on the Playstation, and so it can't handle such graphics. You won't be disappointed in the graphics department, either.

Sound

I usually don't rate sound, but Silent Hill is known for it's music. And I must say that, even though I love it's music, I still wish that there were more pieces with lyrics in them. The soundtrack usually comes with the game, so you will be very pleased if you like the game's music.

Camera Angle

There's absolutely nothing wrong here. The camera angles are actually very good, and are sometimes fixed to give you creepy perspectives, or views of weird things going on around you. But if you're one of those people who doesn't like to see girl's panties or bottoms, then you should either avoid this game or avoid using one of the extra costumes at all costs, because, like I said, the camera angle gives you excellent views (And that's not a
reference to what I just said), but sometimes tends to get up-close and personal with Heather.

Controls

There's nothing wrong here, either. You must prepare your weapon to attack with it, you can strafe, and turn around instantly, with ease.

Scare Factor

Maybe its because I was getting used to scary things, but this game wasn't very scary to me. Sure, it had its jump moments, but I could only recognize the atmosphere as disturbing and scary, and could not actually be scared. And the game had its moments that weren't creepy as in 'scary', but just plain weird, making it better. But I've heard from some fans that they couldn't even get all of the way through the game, and I'm pretty sure that I'm much younger than they are (10-20 years), and I wasn't scared, so maybe it's just me.

Voice Acting

I really don't need to include this, because Silent Hill, except for the first one, has blow-away voice acting, but I'll do it anyway. I really couldn't find one butchered line in this whole thing.

Replay Value

Surprisingly, the replay value is a very tossed-up subject this time around. You have your share of new weapons to unlock, places to see changed, things to do, and a large amount of extra costumes to unlock. But it seems that Konami piled all of this on us because of the game's lack of endings. It only has 3 endings, one of them being a joke ending, so for fans who like to figure out which endings are real in Silent Hill, this one isn't really much of a challenge. And the two endings that you can chose from, unless you're wacky enough to include the joke ending, are rather loose-ended, though one of them leaves something out that's very important to it.

Overall
